RTA has joined the Greater Cleveland Food Bank in the fight against hunger by starting a Virtual Food Drive! You can help support the fight by donating to our page and sharing with family and friends. Even though the Harvest for Hunger campaign was officially included in RTA's Employee Giving Campaign last fall, you can still donate by credit card during the Cleveland Food Bank's fiscal year, which is from Oct. 1, 2018 through Sept. 30, 2019. With the government shutdown, the need will be even greater this year!
The Greater Cleveland Food Bank works to ensure that everyone in our communities has the nutritious food they need every day. They do this by distributing food to more than 900 local food pantries, hot meal programs, shelters, mobile pantries, programs for seniors, and other nonprofit agencies. The Food Bank also prepares nutritious meals in their on-site kitchen and assists eligible low income Northeast Ohioans with signing up for the SNAP program. In total, the Food Bank provided more than 57 million meals last year!
Throughout Northeast Ohio, one in six people are food insecure – meaning they may not know where their next meal will come from. Your support will help alleviate this uncertainty. Every dollar that we raise will provide four meals for our neighbors in need!
