Support Recovery For ALL During Hunger Action Month

Dear [Decision Maker],

I urge you to support legislation that make a long-lasting impact on the issue of hunger, and ensure sustainable, long-term recovery for all. Please support the following initiatives as part of the 'human infrastructure bill' drafting process:

- Increase funding for food purchases to support food banks, specifically through an additional $900 million for food purchases through The Emergency food Assistance Program (TEFAP) until September 30, 2022.
- Extend and expand Summer-EBT, currently operating as Pandemic-EBT, to ensure the USDA has the authority needed to continue this important program during summers and for future school closings.
- Extend and strengthen child nutrition program waiver authority to ensure the flexibility needed to continue operations.
- Extend the temporary increases in the Child Tax Credit and Earned Income Tax Credit to provide families with financial security, as proposed in the President's American Families Plan.

Food shouldn't be an impossible choice. But for 1 in 6 Northeast Ohioans facing hunger, their next meal isn't simply a choice of what to eat for dinner. Supporting these priorities would make for a lasting impact on the lives of the many struggling families in our communities, and help close the hunger gap for millions of Americans.

Sincerely,
