Welcome to our Funds Drive!

Since Fall 2016, Lakeland Community College's chapter of Sigma Kappa Delta (SKD), the English honor society for two-year colleges, has hosted eight online fundraisers to support the Greater Cleveland Food Bank. Over that time, through generous donations from the Lakeland community, those drives have raised over $5,700 for the food bank. We (and the food bank!) are so grateful to the Lakeland community for your generosity.

Our Spring 2021 funds drive for the food bank was tremendous success, raising $1,120.75 By those standards, we've set a relatively modest goal of raising $500, but, as alwayas, we hope to raise as much as possible, as dependence on food banks has drastically increased during the pandemic.

If you're in a position to contribute monetarily, know that any amount helps. The Greater Cleveland Foodbank is able to turn every $1 donated into 4 meals, so no donation is too small to matter. Donations allow the GCFB to distribute food to more than 800 local food pantries, hot meal programs, shelters, mobile pantries, programs for the elderly, and other nonprofit agencies. The GCFB also prepares nutritious meals in their on-site kitchen and assists eligible low income Northeast Ohioans with signing up for the SNAP program. In total, it provides approximately 47 million meals per year.

The funds drive will remain open throughout the semester, through finals week, allowing for one-time donations or multiple donations over the course of several months.
