Lakeland's chapter of Sigma Kappa Delta (SKD), the English honor society, is kicking off the Fall Funds Drive for the Greater Cleveland Food Bank (GCFB).

Since Fall 2016, SKD has hosted many funds drives for the food bank and raised over $7,700. We (and the food bank!) are so grateful to the Lakeland community for your generosity.

If you're in a position to contribute monetarily, know that any amount helps. The Greater Cleveland Foodbank is able to turn every $1 donated into 4 meals.

In 2021, the Greater Cleveland Food Bank:

• served 343,144 unduplicated individuals, including 92,781 unduplicated children and 84,604 unduplicated seniors,
• continued to expand their food distribution methods,
• provided grants to support additional freezers and coolers to help distribute more perishable products to those in need,
• served 87,000 new people,
• and provided more than 53 million pounds of food.

Additionally, our own Lakeland Cares Cupboard partners with the Greater Cleveland Food Bank to offer food insecure students fresh produce, dairy, bread, frozen meats, and many non-perishable items for a fraction of what they would normally cost (often at no charge).

The funds drive will remain open throughout the semester, through finals week, allowing for one-time donations or multiple donations over the course of several months.
