Recently the Greater Cleveland Food Bank has had significant reductions in both State and Federal funding. The Northeast Ohio music scene has stepped up in a big way, and several concerts benefitting the Food Bank have already taken place. Unfortunately these efforts fall far short of offsetting the reductions. By ourselves there is only so much we can do. So music community members have been trying to figure out how can we use our platform to have a significantly greater impact. We have decided to start a community wide, month long campaign with a goal of raising one million dollars for the Greater Cleveland Food Bank. Named 4Food4CLE the campaign will run from June 15th thru July 15th. Already over 100 northeastern Ohio musicians and music venues have committed to using their talents to support this campaign. We are rapidly adding other creative community members to the campaign, These include dancers, poets, comedians, actors, and artists. It is our hope to inspire all Northeastern Ohio residents to figure out what they are willing to do for food, what they are willing to do for the Greater Cleveland Community. This is an opportunity for us to show the world what kind of community we are. We are certain that these funding cuts do not represent who we are as a city and a community. The Cleveland we all know is close knit, supportive, and caring. We all celebrate our community’s victories and we are their for each other in hard times. When we meet our goal we will also be sending a strong message to our representatives about where our priorities lie, and hopefully this message will result in restoration of funding.
